Queensland Open Learning Network

In 1998 I worked for the Queensland Open Learning Network in Brisbane, Australia. It is a provider and supporter for Distance Education Institutions and supplies people in the Australian outback with centres where they can learn about new technology. Classes are held over a phone-connection and a big electronic whiteboard, which can be collaboratively used by the teacher who is in Brisbane and the students in all the different rural centres.

I did information gathering and content creation for their new website and worked on the graphical side together with Vanessa Combronero to develop a framework which was engaging but still easy to navigate.

I learned a lot about educational aspects and how they can be implemented using new technologies. The limitations are quite often not only on the technical side. I also gained experience in project management and learned to conform to several business standards. I learnt more about instructional design and interface design as well as content creation.
